Méthode : LA GUITARE BRÉSILIENNE - BRAZILIAN GUITAR METHOD
Launched January 2006 - After five years of research into Brazilian music, Renato Velasco completed a crucial method in his work as a guitar teacher in 2005. In January 2006, Henry Lemoine Publishers released his first guitar method, "The Brazilian Guitar." Based on the study of traditional Brazilian rhythms, it includes texts that briefly present the history of popular music. It reveals the different genres typical of each region with examples of over one hundred guitar rhythms. You will discover typical Southeast Brazilian rhythms such as bossa nova, samba, and choro; Northeast Brazilian rhythms such as baião, frevo, and afoxé; North Brazilian rhythms such as carimbó and lambada; and South Brazilian rhythms such as rancheira and chamamé. At the end of the method, you will find a chord dictionary and a synoptic table with harmonic and melodic characteristics. This method is based on traditional music, using sheet music and CD recordings. This music is taught orally, but I have chosen to write it down on a staff to make it more accessible to some musicians.
Each rhythm is recorded with guitar and percussion instruments. Then, the same recording is repeated with percussion accompaniment only, for practice.
A huge thank you to Dada Viana for his excellent work recording the percussion accompaniments. This book is for folk musicians, classical guitarists, and anyone who wants to learn or improve their skills using a methodology that reveals the secrets of Brazilian guitar. This method will contribute to the evolution of Brazilian guitar learning and open doors for eager and passionate guitarists.
